- WHO has hit back at detractors of vaccination saying that opposition to routine vaccination in children against contagious diseases such as measles and whooping cough has resulted in a recurrence of these diseases in US and UK.
- While some argue over its necessity, others focus on fears regarding the alleged links between measles vaccine and autism which scientists have largely rejected.
- Disappearance of the disease has resulted in complacency which increase the number of susceptible people who resist facts or information and this will result to the re-emergence of the disease.Unless it is completely eradicated worldwide, vaccination of newborns should keep continuing.
- Rolling back vaccinations also hampers the worldwide efforts of disease eradication.
- Globally about 85% of the children are being vaccinated, but several factors such as the ongoing war in Syria, fear of foreign conspiracy in Pakistan and Nigeria have seen a reduction in this number.
- Only when each child is vaccinated, full benefits of vaccination and its efforts will be reaped.
