- The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is a non-government, not-for-profit, industry-led and industry-managed organization, association of Indian businesses which works to create an environment conducive to the growth of industry in the country and proactively participates in India’s development by working closely with Government on policy issues, interfacing with thought leaders, and enhancing efficiency, competitiveness and business opportunities for industry through a range of specialized services and strategic global linkages.
- It was founded in 1895 and has over 7100 members, from the private as well as public sectors, including SMEs and MNCs, and an indirect membership of over 90,000 enterprises from around 257 national and regional sectoral industry bodies.
- It provides opportunities to its membership to perceive global trends, establish technical competencies and then create awareness about the latest trends among the industry members. Nine Centres of Excellence have been created with the objective to meet a huge unmet need of the industry which are located in Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi, Chandigarh,Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Jaipur.
