- A genetic disorder is an illness caused by one or more abnormalities in the genome, especially a condition that is present from birth (congenital). Most genetic disorders are quite rare, may either be inherited from parents, or occur as a result of mutations in a gene.
- Genetic recombination is the regrouping of the maternal and paternal genes during the formation of gametes (sperms or eggs). Recombination occurs randomly in nature as a normal event of meiosis, the process by which gametes are produced.
