Well diggers find skeletal remains of 1857 martyrs
- Members of gurudwara in Punjab, while digging a well in gurudwara premises found skeletal remains said to be of martyrs of 1857 revolt. They found remains of 282 persons.
- They are said be from 26th Native Infantry Regiment stationed at Mian Mir near Lahore.
- 282 mutineers were caught and killed in Ajanala Punjab on the orders of then Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar F.H. Cooper.
- Gurudwara is interested to build a memorial for the martyrs and sought the help of state government.
