  • Owing to high level of ammonia in raw water supply from the Yamuna, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) shut down two water treatment plants at Chandrawal and Wazirabad. , DJB Chairperson Kapil Mishra said, “Levels of ammonia has increased to 1.8 ppm.”
  • The acceptable level of ammonia is 0.5 ppm. “If the level goes up, the operation of raw water has to be suspended as ammonia when mixed with the treating agent chlorine gives rise to Trihalomethane which is carcinogenic in nature,” said Mishra
