UN to visit Yemen to reassess plight of residents caught between Govt and Rebels

  • As the fighting between rebels and government continues in Yemen, Officials from UN are scheduled to visit Al Dhale to reassess plight of residents caught between the two.
  • Recently UN Security Council called on both govt and rebels to allow relief assistance to civilians.
  • UN Human Rights Commissioner expressed shock over civilian deaths and said her office has recorded the number of deaths of civilians.
  • Rebels call their truce with govt as “South Yemen Movement” or “al-Hirak” which would press for freedom of southern Yemen.
