U.N. Hails Ruling on Legal Recognition for Transgenders

  • UN calls historic: India’s SC approves transgenders as third gender & asks Govt to open up job avenues for them
  • Officially third gender has been recognised
  • High Commissioner for Human Rights, Amnesty International also welcomes SC judgement.
  • SC asked Centre and States to recognise transgender, facilitate grant of ID, passport, voters card, driving licence, jobs in PSUs etc.
