- In a third such strikingly similar attack on unsuspecting commuters in railway stations, an armed assailant indiscriminately stabbed passengers injuring six people in the southern metropolis of Guangzhou.
- There were conflicting reports on the number of assailants whose identity is still being established. The earlier two attacks were carried out by terrorists linked to separatist group of Uighurs in Xinjiang, some of who had earlier sought to travel overseas for jihad.
