Thai Facing A Looming Civil War

  • Thai ex-PM’s removal for alleged abuse of power has been dismissed as a judicial coup by supporters of the govt who are now resisting the efforts of the opposition to hand power to an unelected regime.
  • Authorities warn that the opposition’s ultimatum to appoint the a new leader by Monday, and its efforts towards toppling the remnants of the govt is inching the country closer towards a civil war, besides being illegitimate.
  • Officials will step up law enforcement to tackle the growing casualties and are on alert for possible clashes. Further decline in the situation may lead to army intervention.
