- Most of the teachers on health grounds given reasons of common illness like diabetes to claim the benefit that comes from “terminally ill”
- The education department has agreed the false claims and affected the transfer of these primary and secondary teachers last month but the department has arranged for transfers of teachers who suffer from chronic diseases
- Few teachers claim illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension and back pain but kidney failure, heart ailments, cancer and HIV/AIDS — categorised as terminally ill diseases
- Majority of North Karnataka have given such false reasons and one teacher who wanted transfer told they were forced to resort to desperate measures as the amendment to the Karnataka State Civil Services (Regulation of Transfer of Teachers) Act, 2007 did not come through
- 9375 candidates got transferred out of 52489 who applied, while the counselling for transfer was completed by July and the Principal Secretary of Primary and Secondary Education are asked to inspect
- Those who are suspected will be suspended and the enquiry will go on and if the doctors are involved then they will also be suspended
- The amendment will ensure criminal action is initiated doctors who gave fake medical report if they are engage in such malpractices
- The officials have informed the Commissioner for Public Instructions about the malpractices and the enquiry will go on
