- The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) crushed the total penalty worth Rs. 1,200 imposed against Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea cellular and allowed them to retain their 3G intra-circle roaming pact and continue providing service to their customers as it was not in violation of their license agreement.
- After winning 3G spectrum in 2010 auction, Airtel, Idea Cellular and Vodafone signed an ICR pact allowing each of them to access to 3G networks of the others in different circles.
- DoT notices were issued thrice, which was challenged in each case and the case was eventually transferred to TDSAT by the SC. The victory in this case will now allow the operators to invest on network coverage.
