Supreme Court Panel Says That Judges Are Not Immune From Charges of Sexual Harassment at Workplace

March 27, 2014 by KRS Leave a Comment

Judges are not immune from charges of sexual harassment at workplace

  • A Supreme Court appointed panel, while hearing a writ petition from a law intern who levelled allegations of sexual harassment against Justice Swatanter Kumar, Chairperson of National Green Tribunal, made the following observations :
    • however high a judge maybe, they can’t be immune to sexual harassment at workplace charges, if & when such charge is proved
    • if such charge is made against any retired SC or High Court judges manning judicial tribunals, they can’t be protected under ‘irremovability from office’ shield.

Exams Perspective:

  1. Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act
  2. Supreme Court
