- The fourth edition of the EduSports Annual Health and Fitness Survey covering 77,699 children of the age group 7-17 found that there was drop in the performance of children in the anaerobic and flexibility areas, with a possible reduction in both the upper and lower body strengths post summer vacations.
- Children from non-metro areas showed a lower drop and performed better in 5 of the 6 parameters when compared to their city counterparts. Boys tend to put on weight, resulting in a declined BMI as compared to girls of the same age.
- This decline in the health and fitness levels is attributed to general lack of physical exercise and play with children these days tending to stick glued to the TV, and eat loads of junk food.
