Junk food high in fat, sugar and salt: panel
- An expert committee on Nutrition has suggested :
- in Schools & in a 50 metre radius around them,there should be a restriction on consumption & availability of high fatty food or junk food (with high sugar & salt)
- increasing the availability of wholesome food to schoolchildren across India
- common foods containing fat, sugar and salt in high quantities are chips, fried foods, sugar-sweetened carbonated beverages, sugar-sweetened non-carbonated beverages, ready-to-eat noodles, pizzas, burgers, potato fries and confectionery items, needs to be avoided
- make quality and safe foods available in schools
