- Stray dogs will now guard the Central Delhi as they win attend a grooming scission and the police dog trainers will train these dogs and press them in to service
- A new initiative taken by the New Delhi Municipal Council is to keep the area safe and secure, instead of just roaming in the NDMC area they might as well be trained to guard the area
- In the past the civic body has worked with the Animal Welfare Board to sterilize and keep a check on the number frequently and also to avoid incidents of dog bites
- This drive will solve two major issues (1) take the stray dogs off the streets (2) make the city safer for residents
- The in-house home guards who will be employed by the NDMC should have worked as gardeners and safai karamcharis and they will be deployed in two of the area’s largest parks- Nehru Park and Lodhi Gardens
- These in-home guards will be trained to have walkie-talkies, be aware of basic first aid and also will carry a whistle and “May I Help You” force will be formed and will be the interface between the civic body and public
- 700 personnel will be deployed and trained, as of now 40 personnel are deployed to begin with as a part of “dry run” as a part of Independence Day
- The other area where these personnel will be deployed in Khan Market and Connaught Place they will keep vigilance but not assist this system will be useful when the markets are opened till late nights
- These guards will be provided with limited powers to these and can fine people if they litter or spit in the places
- Looking at the number of people who prefer to walk in the night will be benefited as the NDMC has plans to keep a few parks open till late into the night where the in-house home guards will keep an eye on the place for security purposes
