  • A division bench of Kerala High Court today to hear state govt appeal seeking expunging of remarks by a judge on CM office in land grab cases
  • Single judge remarks came while ordering a CBI probe in land grab cases allegedly involving Salim Raj, suspended gunman of Oommen Chandy.
  • Kerala govt in its appeal said observations made by Justice Harun-Ul-Rashid were uncalled as it was ready for CBI probe into land grab cases
  • State govt said comments were made unilaterally by the judge on the basis of “his personal philosophies and perceptions.”
  • The single judge remarks were made without giving an opportunity to the Chief Minister for “explaining or defending,” state govt alleged
  • The appeal said that the remarks would cast serious aspersions on the Chief Minster and his reputation and career.

Exams Perspective:

  1. Chief Minister’s Office (CMO)
  2. High Court
