- Maoists first kidnapped Podiyami, who is an ex-SPO Koya commando, who currently is a Police constable.
- He was released later with certain conditions to follow:
- He should not work in Police Department.
- He should stay only in Sukma district, Pinna Bheji village, consisting of Muria Gonds tribe.
- The Maoists have warned the Muria Gonds to ensure that this system is followed, threatening of dire consequences if otherwise.
- This is a surprise, as the strategies of Maoists is changing as compared to before, when they would kill Police officers but release other dept officers.
