- Manthan 2014 Business Plan Presentation competition winner was Sangappa Sankanagoud a graduate of the College of Agricultural Engineering in Raichur by developing a solar sprayer
- Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) have organized this competition and the student had worked on this project very extensively
- The solar sprayer is a cost effective support system which could be used to spray pesticides, insecticides and fungicides on crops, could be operated during the night too
- The cost of the sprayer is around Rs.10, 000 and if the government can provide subsidy it would come at a lesser cost to the farmers
- Minister for IT, Biotechnology and Science and Technology S.R. Patil while presenting the award said that there is a need for more exposure for presenting various and unique projects that can be used by the industries
- The state government is looking at setting up an IT incubation centers at various engineering colleges
- Shortly the state will benefit if an Information Technology Investment Region fab city (for manufacturing electronic goods, including processors and semiconductors) projects could be set up
