- Solar Impulse 2, a solar-powered aircraft has completed a successful test flight of 2 hrs 15 mins inching closer towards its goal of flying non-stop for 5 days and 5 nights (more than 120 hrs) to cross the Pacific and Atlantic on its global flight.
- The 2.3-tonne aircraft with a 72-m wingspan is made from Carbon fibre and has four electrical motors powered by 17,248 solar cells.
- Its earlier version, Solar Impulse in 2010 has notched up a 26-ht flight proving that it could store enough power during the day to keep flying at night.
