February 28, 2014 by KRS Leave a Comment

  • Russia ordered a snap drill along its western region which is bordering Ukraine. Armed Forces of Western & Central Commands were on ‘combat alert’ to check their readiness over a week long exercise. This is linked to Ukraine crisis.
  • Putin termed the overthrow of Ukrainian President as ‘armed mutiny’ & urged the nation against ‘backslide to religious confrontation’.
  • Ukraine Parliament repealed a law which made Russian as second language in 50% of Ukraine’s provinces with large number of Russian speakers. They alleged that Russia had interfered in Crimea region of Ukraine.
  • Autonomous Crimea, in the eastern peninsula, with predominantly Russian population has opposed the changes at Kiev (capital). Pro-Russians clashed with Pro-Ukrainian Tatars here.
