- Sikh conference was called off by the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in the Golden Temple in Amritsar following a directive from the Akal Takht (the highest temporal seat of Sikhs)
- The meeting is called to protest against the creation of a separate Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (HSGPC) by the Congress government in Haryana
- A mass agitation was to be launched and Punjab Chief Minister was supposed to resign.
- Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh related to the issues in Saharanpur called for a Sikh conference and meeting the ad hoc HSGPC in Karnal on Monday be called off.
- Jathedar opined that the Sikh community is in trouble because of the crisis happening in Saharanpur post which he order all groups to call off their conventions in Amritsar (Punjab) and Karnal (Haryana).
- Sikh high priests and senior Sikh leaders will resolve the issue on HSGPC creation, the instruction came after BJP conveyed to the Akali Dal as they would try to nullify law conceived by Government of Haryana.
- The newly appointed Haryana Governor, Kaptan Singh Solanki Governor will review the assent by his predecessor Jagannath Pahadia.
- Former CM Captain Amarinder Singh told that the Akal Takht has acted at the right time, in a recent development the newly-notified 41-member ad hoc of the HSGPC met in Kurukshetra on Saturday and elected Jagdish Singh Jhinda and Didar Singh Nalvi as president and senior vice-president respectively.
