- To enroll a girl child under Bhagyalakshmi scheme insurance the government has made it mandatory to submit parents’ marriage certificate, this has been criticized by the Karnataka Legislature SC/ST Welfare Committee
- The issue was raised in both the houses of legislature and the committee has recommended the state government cancel the new norm as it is difficult for the BPL families to avail benefits of the schemes
- Most of the couples in rural areas do not get the marriage certified and suggested the Department of Woman and Child Development to ask for voters ID, they have further recommended the finance department to release Rs.300 crores for Baghyalakshmi Bonds
- In the year 2013-14 around 295.5 crores was allotted for around 1,45,965 beneficiaries, and they also said that government should ensure the supply of notorious food to be done with responsibility, in the past some villages near Mysore and Nanjangudu anganwadi’s have faced problems
