- Ukraine has resumed its anti-terrorist operations in its eastern provinces after two bodies, one allegedly of a pro-Ukrainian were discovered.
- Seeing as it was immediately resumed following US Vice President’s visit to Ukraine, Russia has accused US of instigating these operations and has warned of possible hit backs if its legitimate interests in Ukraine are affected.
- Referring to the 2008 incident where Russia defeated Georgia after it attacked South Ossetia in order to regain control over the breakaway territory, Russia said it will have no other option than to respond as per International Laws.
- This comes in the wake of US decision of deploying 600 troops in Poland and the Baltic states for open-ended manoeuvres. US also sent a series of warships USS Taylor to Black Sea, besides USS Donald Cook and French vessel Dupuy de Lome that is already anchored there.
- Both US and Russia insist on implementing the Geneva agreements with the former directing Russia to immediately put an end to its operations in the eastern provinces and de-escalate the situation and the later demanding withdrawal of government armed forces from the provinces.
