Lok Sabha Privileges Panel Will Look Into Pepper Spray Incident

  • Speaker Meira Kumar has referred Pepper Spray incident to the Lok Sabha Committee of Privileges to take punitive measures.
  • The Privileges Committee is being chaired by P.C. Chacko, a senior Congress leader. It is 15 members panel, which has been constituted by the speaker. They have the powers to expel or sentence any member of the parliament for breaking the law.
  • The main responsibility of this committee is to examine every case referred by the speaker or house regarding breach of privilege or disrespect towards other members of the parliament or the house.
