Rohingya Influx is Creating Security Concerns in India

March 19, 2014 by KRS Leave a Comment

Rohingya influx — a brewing crisis
  • The steady influx of Rohingya Muslims into West Bengal via Bangladesh is causing concern to the Indian security establishment. This threatens the security structure.
  • The actual numbers of these immigrants are not available with the West Bengal government.
  • The increase is prolonging humanitarian crisis and causing security risk.
  • Among ethnic groups, Buddhist Rakhines & Muslim Rohingyas are equal in number.
  • Another census in Myanmar in their path towards democracy will decide the future of Rohingyas .
  • Rohingyas are making attempts to exit Myanmar as they are being victimized because they are not considered Burmese Citizen under Citizenship Law.

Exams Perspective:

  1. Plight of Rohingya Muslims
  2. Burmanisation
