Sarva Siksha Abhiyan: An assessment of dropout rates in Schools
- Government’s flagship scheme SSA has yielded dividends to some extent but it was observed that there was a reduction in retention rates of students than the ushered the enrolment rate.
- The reasons for dropout rate of students are as follows:

- Migration-Mainly among construction and agriculture labourers,
- Involvement of students in household works.
- Far distance of school from their homes.
- Gender Specific Reasons
- Puberty
- Marriage at early age
- Working as a breadwinner for family(boys)
