- An economic corridor linking western China & Arabian Sea port of Gwadar is under planning stage.
- The corridor(the only land link connecting Xinjiang region to Pakistan through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK)) envisages :
- expanding road links,
- energy & infra projects,
- building a railway line, and
- installing energy pipelines.
- The 2 countries had some modest arguments regarding the 4 deals signed which consisted projects like- upgrading 2nd phase of Karakoram Highway, building of an international airport at Gwadar.
- However, China is yet to progress in terms of financial or material support.
- The main drawbacks for slow progress are:
- terrain in which it is planned is an obstacle in land connectivity, and
- kidnapping threats aimed at Chinese workers by the Pakistanis.
