- According to archaeologists, Rakhigarhi (Hisar district) is the biggest Harappan Civilization site.
- More than 2000 Harappan sites exist in India, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
- Up until now, Mohenjo-daro which is situated in Pakistan was considered the biggest site. Archaeological remains in Mohenjo-daro are spread over 300 Hectares.
- Till now, in the order of size, the biggest Harappan sites were:
- Mohenjo-daro (around 300 Hec, in Pak),
- Harappa (Pak),
- Ganweriwala (Pak),
- Rakhigarhi (Ind),
- Dhoavira (Ind).
- However, recently 2 more mounds were unearthed in Rakhigarhi, which adds to the already present 7 mounds increase the total area to over 350 Hectares, and making it the biggest Harappan Civilization site.
