July 23, 2014 by Admin Leave a Comment

  • India and China is planning to develop their naval arsenals that have a prominent nuclear dimension looking at the battle for energy resources in South China Sea and Indian Ocean
  • India is preserving its “strategic autonomy,” and validating its nuclear deterrent looking at some of the recent advancements of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to establish an atomic deterrent
  • The gap in India’s capacity is being filled by the launch the integration of a Submarine Launched Ballistic
  • (SLBM) and the domestically developed Arihant which is ready for sea trails
  • As a part of sea trails the test by Arihant will test-fire the developed BO-5 missile refereeing to SLBM which can strike at a maximum distance of 2000 km
  • The other hand China is fully ready with its fourth generation nuclear powered submarines which can target sea-going or land-based objects with torpedoes and missiles
  • China responded with a statement following the Pivot to Asia of the United States that involves America’s military profile in the Asia-Pacific, including the energy rich, South China Sea
  • Competing for energy and other resources in the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea should not get into open conflicts which will emerge as a major factor in the establishment of stable deterrents
