June 16, 2014 by Admin Leave a Comment

  • The Bagundi lake no more remains fresh but is a swathe of water and is polluted
  • An annual fishing festival is held on the occasion of Meena Sankramana and in the past each one used to take out 10kgs of fish and now is left with a few fishes in hand
  • Decades ago the lake water was used for cultivation but now the swimming in this water is also not possible
  • Karnataka Small Industries Association (KSIA) members and the residents are asking the government to protect the lake
  • Jayaprakash Engineering and Steel Company (Jesco) received around 986.5 acres of land but the State government but has not progressed in using the land JESCO will take the matter to the high court
  • While JESCO submitted a plan for fertilizers plat to the ministry then the lake was to be a water reservoir of 15 million litre capacity
  • JESCO cannot do much as they have difficulty in approvals to start development on the land
