- Pakistan has deployed army to protect its Red Zone, that houses the Prime Ministerial and Presidential houses from the protesters who are marching towards the same.
- This is its first military deployment in the capital under civilian leadership. Over 700 troops will face the 30,000 protesters.
- The protesters are led by Imran Khan, who is the leader of Pak’s 3rd largest political bloc, and anti-govt cleric Tahir-ul-Qadri, who are both demanding the resignation of PM Nawaz Sharieff over allegations of fraud in last year’s elections.
