National Tiger Conservation Authority issues advisory on Canine Distemper disease
- Canine Distemper is a disease caused a virus known as canine distemper virus (CDV), the major victims of the virus is dogs. When tigers eat domestic dogs infected with this virus they risk exposing themselves to this virus.
- NTCA issued advisory to all tiger sanctuaries in India after they found the virus in a tiger from Pilibhit Tiger Reserve.
- The advisory said dogs around the sanctuaries should be checked and vaccinated properly with the help of animal husbandry department of the state.
