National Sample Survey Says India Lacks Safe Drinking Water
- Recently conducted 69th National Sample Survey says “one in ten thousand households still lack safe drinking water in India.”
- According to researchers who aim to provide filters at low cost said “water can be filtered using “Xylem Tissue” of a plant.”
- Xylem carries nutrients and water from roots to upper parts of the plant.
- The system is yet to be tested outside laboratory parameters but the initiative gives hope to many poor who cannot afford good filters in the market.
