- The IT industry has welcomed the govt approval on Digital India and has sought an interaction with the govt for discussions on how to turn this into a reality.
- The Digital India scheme aims at providing govt services such as health and education electronically to the people, by enabling high-speed internet facilities even in gram panchayats.
- It will also improve productivity, create jobs and fuel economic activity in areas that are not digitally connected.
- Since more than 10 Lakh IT professionals work in the private sector as opposed to the around 10,000 in the govt sector, Nasscom wants to be involved in materialization of the same.
- Nasscom is also working with the govt on:
- Creating a facilitative investment climate.
- Improve the ease of doing business in India by invoking appropriate policy changes, and implementation of measures to increase the country’s competitiveness.
