- NASA has unveiled the prototype of Z-2 spacesuit, which will be used by astronauts and subsequently people who are likely to travel to Mars. Z-2 spacesuit, an upgraded version of the previous Z-1, was selected by people online and uses light-emitting patches and luminescent wires to identify individuals.
- To ensure its perfect fitting, it will be built using 3D printed parts and lasers. It has composite hard layers that ensures durability and is made up of materials compatible with a full vaccum environment.
- It will soon be tested at NASA’s training pool that imitates the rocky surface of Mars and Johnson Space Centre used to train astronauts for spacewalk. The results will be incorporated in the next upgraded version.
