- President Barack Obama has sent a formal invitation delivered by US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns and Prime Minister Mr.Modi has accepted the invite
- The Prime minister has handed over a thank you letter to Mr.Obama and is looking forward for a result oriented visit which will impart a new momentum and energy between the two countries
- Mr.Modi will meet U.S president after his visit to UNGA in New York, US has avoided bilateral meetings mostly and this meeting will be an exception to its rule
- Preparations have began for the summit while other senior officials are expected to reach Delhi
- Mr.Arun Kumar, US Assistant Secretary of Commerce will lead an economic delegation to India and Secretary of State John Kerry is expected on July 31, followed closely by US Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel in the second week of August
