- Kerala is under alert for the viral disease Middle-East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), which has proved fatal in 40% of the cases.
- Public institutions have been alerted and readied with adequate medicines to tackle MERS and Ministry officials are visiting the State as part of its surveillance preparedness.
- The dengue cases in the State had reduced to 1/5th when compared to last year. Even Chikangunya and leptospirosis cases reduced by 20%.
- Since June is the month where disease cases shoot up, fever clinics have been opened in all major hospitals in the district and separate fever wards had been earmarked.
