‘Maharashtra Experience Proves Anti-Superstition law not Anti-Hindu’

June 10, 2014 by Admin Leave a Comment

  • Anti-superstitious practices legislation helps dispel the myth spread by certain groups that such a law can only be anti-Hindu
  • National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Karnataka Rajya Vijnana Parishath and others said that 60 cases were booked under the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013, against several religious groups and not only Hindus.
  • Karnataka can learn a lesson form Maharashtra regarding the issue and is important to highlight the fact that it is ‘Continuous misrepresentation’
  • Karnataka has a social fabric that allows for action rooted in rationalism to flourish, Ms. Dabholkar said, adding that it is important to take the proposed legislation forward by implementing it.
  • The former Vice-Chancellor of Hampi Kannada University expressed that the problem is illiteracy and poverty
  • The organisers of the meeting will present a memorandum to Law Minister T.B. Jayachandra demanding a law against superstitious practices, which was proposed in November last year
