- Ahead of its victory parade to celebrate the end of brutal civil war conflict, Sri Lankan govt prevented a remembrance event to be staged to pay homage to those dead by Tamil leaders of a Jaffna-based group.
- The police said it was prevented as it was a potential threat to the social harmony since it would evoke the memory of LTTE Tigers and upset the families of those apparently recruited by them.
