- State government will take action against Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) members as per Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs T.B. Jayachandra
- The primary report has sought prosecution for members who were involved in the scam of 362 gazetted posts of 2011 batch
- 2011 batch candidates are rejected by the State Cabinet after the CID probe on corruption in recruitment and soon the government will move to the high court for further action
- Further to the allegations Janata Dal (Secular) said “The government has the right to either reject or approve the list,” he said. “As per rule 11 of the Gazetted Probationers (Appointment by Competitive Examinations), 1977, no candidate shall be appointed unless the government is satisfied”
- KPSC members would be questioned as per the government and can initiate investigation only after Governor mandates the court for proceedings
- Retired KPSC members do not need any sanction for prosecution them under Prevention of Corruption Act, but sanction from Governor is a mandate and if the charge sheet is filed the courts cannot take cognisance of offence in the absence of sanction
