- Scientists have developed Geographic Population Structure (GPS) to trace the origin of an individual’s DNA dating back to 1000 years.
- GPS works like a satellite navigation system, traces origin of DNA formed 1000 yrs back, says Eran Elhaik of Sheffield University.
- This is done through examining genetic admixture of individuals, DNA tracing as precise as finding villages of ancestors
- Accuracy of GPS ascertained through analysing data from 10 Sardinia villages in Mediterranean sea, more than 20 islands in Oceania.
