- Ukraine govt’s onslaught against pro-Russian protesters in the eastern province of Donetsk has killed and injured dozens of protesters. The protesters also fought back the advancing govt troops using arms, after which both the parties pulled back.
- Meanwhile, clashes between pro-Russians and Ukraine nationalists led to the latter setting fire on a building in Odessa burning alive dozens of anti-govt protesters. Govt is arresting only the protesters and not the nationalists.
- Germany wants a follow up Geneva 2 accord owing to the failure of Geneva 1 accord.
- Kiev has relented to it since it awaits the release of funds from International Monetary Fund, which had warned it of disbursement if it fails to contain the crisis.
