‘Recommendation not binding on L-G’
- The Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced resignation of his government on Friday. Kejriwal has also recommended the dissolution of Delhi Assembly, and early elections.
- Even though the Delhi Government is in minority, it has all the rights to propose dissolution of Delhi Assembly to Lieutenant-Governor. However, experts state that these recommendations of Delhi govt. are not binding to L-G.
- Lieutenant-Governor is not bound to pass the recommendation. L-G can keep Delhi Assembly in a suspended state for the next two months.
- He can also explore some more options towards the formation of government and only then recommend to President to dissolve the House, if no options are available.
Exams Perspective:
- Dissolution of Assembly
