IRDA To Allow Insurance Companies To Invest In Equity Trading

  • Investment in equity exchange traded funds (ETFs) by Insurance companies has been allowed by Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) which can bring in investment in the country.
  • IRDA said only those registered with SEBI and governed by SEBI are eligible for investment.
  • ETF is a security that tracks index funds and traded like stocks on exchanges
  • ETFs are to be valued in line with stocks.
