- To counter the terrorists of ISIS advancing in on its capital, Iraq has sought air strikes from US warning that the country’s future was at stake.
- The country is struggling to repel the terrorists attack as most of its security forces are abandoning posts.
- The crisis had drawn concerns from the middle eastern countries with Iran vowing to protect the Shia shrines against the militant assault.
- The militants have also attacked on the country’s largest refinery raising fears in the international oil markets which was shut down and stresses the country’s crude oil supplies. Counter attack by the military left 40 militants dead.
- The militants also gained grounds capturing many other provinces on their way.
- Britain PM has warned that the militants advancing in Iraq and Syria were also planning to attack UK and underscored this as the biggest threat currently faced by the country.
