- After 23 years meeting of India-Nepal joint commission was held and the External Affairs Minister Ms.Swaraj demonstrated of the new Indian Government’s importance towards Nepal
- The Ministry’s principal message was to impart renewed momentum to multi-faceted relations between two countries and in fact Prime Minister Mr.Modi will visit Nepal prior to SAARC meet
- Nepal will be benefitted to reduce the huge trade deficit in India, since past 10 months Nepal’s trade with India has widened to approximately Rs.210 billion
- Further a meeting with the top leaders and the Prime Minister of Nepal Ms. Swaraj conveyed the hope for timely and inclusive Constitution that is “acceptable to all.” Nepal’s Constituent Assembly is working to draft a new Constitution
- She further said that the two countries are all set for a new beginning and met the UCPN(Maoist) leader who opined that they are positive on the upcoming Modi’s visit
- Three issues were raised with the Indian Ministry was India’s goodwill to complete Nepal’s peace process, engagement at the political level, and the need for India to announce a mega project for Nepal
- Further the UCNP leader and the former Foreign Minister, Narayan Kaji Shrestah, told “She assured us that she would convey our request to her Prime Minister”.
