- As per a survey conducted by The Energy and Research Institute of India (TERI) a large number of respondents believe that:
- Environment should be prioritised over development (50%)
- Climate changes are a reality – temperatures have increased, rainfall has decreased (90%)
- Tree cover, surface water, birds’ habitat have changed drastically.
- The air quality of Delhi has worsened (50%)
- Air pollution policies have not been rightly implemented (40%).
- Quality and availability of drinking water has improved (50%)
- A ban must be imposed on polythene bags (97%)
- A fee or deposit should be charged on recyclable items (50%)
- This trend was observed across people of all income and genders as the sample group consisted of from low, middle and high income localities.
