Indian Gravity Wave Detector 8 years Away

Narendra Modi was the target of Patna blasts, says NIA chief
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted his support for a wave detector in India. Such a project is at least eight years away, said scientists familiar with the project.
  • The eight-year period does not include time it will take the Central government to clear the proposal to cost around Rs. 1,200 crore.
  • Further the project may run into State govt. hurdles as in the case of Indian Neutrino Observatory (INO) project. It had been cleared by the Union government in 2015, but has been stalled for over a year due to protests in Tamil Nadu.
