Increasing Hunger: One of the Many Adverse Effects of Global Warming

April 1, 2014 by KRS Leave a Comment

Warming worsens hunger problems : UN

  • Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), a United Nations scientific panel chaired under Rajendra Pachauri released a report stating that Global warming increases the costs and efforts required in feeding people, as man-made warming reduces production and yield in most of the food crops.
  • This will result in bloated food prices, generate ‘hotspots of hunger’ and drastically impact Western delights like fine wine and robust coffee. Food prices expected to rise in the range of 3 – 84% by 2050 as a result of climate change alone.

Exams Perspective:

  1. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)
  2. Hotspots of Hunger
  3. Global Warming
