- North-eastern states Chief Ministers met regarding improving the transportation through road, air and water ways and improve inland water transport within the region for development
- Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunahal Pradesh, Nabam Tuki and Mizoram Chief Ministers were present in the meeting organized by the Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region (DoNER)
- The Chief Ministers of Assam and Tripura stressed to build trade, economic and transport operations with Bangladesh
- Adequate funding is required for improving the transportation system to bring inclusive development of the region
- Further in the meeting specified need of connecting all north-eastern States with broad-gauge railway lines and need to have at least one proper airport in the State capital’s of the region
- On a priority transit and transshipment facility through Bangladesh to north-east and as well as access to Chittagong in Bangladesh
- Road connectivity in Arunachal and Rail links in Nagaland are the requirements which has to adhered at the earliest
- Further to which Chief Minister’s have called for a review administrative and financial procedure NEC and overhauling the mechanism followed by DoNER in sanction of projects
- Roads and transportation of North east needs to be on highest priority the union ministers of State (Independent Charge) for DoNER, General (retd) V.K. Singh, said all the north-eastern States should progress as a region
- The officials expressed the hope that the center will look into the matter, Union Minister for Civil Aviation promised his cooperation and develop aviation sector in this region
